Ask The Entreprenette

What if they say no?

Screen Shot 2014-01-15 at 11.39.05 AMOk, so we have our January Check List  and are working on it right?  If not, go ahead and click (to the left) to get that right now.

I am just going to assume that you've got your Spring linesheets ready and are already trying to sell to stores and/or on-line via your website……k?   How is it going already?  Are you getting a good response?  Sales coming in yet?

It might be a bit early in the month as many buyers are just getting back from Tradeshows or about to go to one and may not be ready to commit to anything just yet…….but that does NOT mean you should take "No", or "Not sure yet", as a final answer………I don't like taking no for an answer…ever if I am being honest, which I am!

So what I advise at this point, it to get a series of email campaigns set up in your Constant Contact (or whatever), and get serious about sales to stores this quarter.  Spring is a short selling season and you need to capitalize on this quickly, and make the most of it before the dollars go to some other lucky person. Be consistent in emailing each week and follow up monthly with stores via phone call……yes, call them.

Same goes for your online shoppers.  As I mention in the  January Check List, this is a great time to put all your fall left overs on sale……try to sell them off yourself first as you'll make more money.  Then turn to flash sites and other venues – but remember, those discounters like to sell current seasonal items so don't wait too long.

Let me know how it's going!
