Let’s talk about your vagina, investors and business with Chia Chia Sun

Chia Chai Sun Demeva

Join me and Chia Chia (pronounced Cha Cha) and learn how she has grown her business Damiva into a fast moving company whose products are sold in most drug stores across Canada, and are launching this spring in the USA in major drug store chains across America.  Chia Chia candidly tells me about getting and working with her investors and even throws out the names of her distributors….  Chia Chia is honest, open and is a refreshing listen.

Can you imagine how much gusto it takes to pitch a company about making your vagina feel better during menopause to a room full of male investors?  Chia Chia makes it sound like it was a piece of cake. She loves to talk about your vagina anyhow.

Damiva Inc. is a leading women’s health company developing and manufacturing natural products for menopause. With two innovative, pioneering feminine hygiene products sold across Canada in drugstores since 2014, Damiva is now launching the product line in the U.S. at major retailers nationwide in Q2 2017.

Chia Chia Sun, a cancer geneticist and pharmaceutical executive in Toronto, Canada, was doing a cancer study and discovered how many women were experiencing vaginal dryness and other symptoms that mimicked menopause. Realizing that she was heading into her 40’s herself, Chia Chia began to research vaginal dryness and was horrified to discover that 85% of post- and menopausal women experience vaginal dryness, and that 40% experienced pain with intercourse – and that almost no one is talking about it or doing anything about it.

It was shocking to find out that with 50+% of the female population over age 40, how few products exist on the shelf for peri-menopause and menopause.  Her obvious question was: “What would I want to use for the next 30 years?” She knew she wanted a product that was safe, chemical free and hormone free, and with the discovery that no such product existed, Chia Chia and her husband and partner Gardiner Smith, also a pharmaceutical executive, decided they needed to remedy the situation.

Thus, Damiva’s first product, Mae, an all-natural, safe, chemical-free, hormone-free vaginal suppository, was born; soon to be followed by Cleo, a moisturizer for “your other lips”. Damiva’s mission is to get women more comfortable talking about their health and happiness as they age – their tagline “Enough beating around the bush. Let’s talk about your Vagina” is an example of their cheeky, clever marketing that gets women talking.
